Mama’s Baby Grub
Organic Baby Food
Babies can be picky eaters. The store bought brands have a variety of ingredients in them and when Kelly found this out she wondered if her baby wasn’t eating the foods she purchased because of this. After some experimenting with her own concoctions she realized that her kid would only eat certain foods. So she began making her own baby food.
Thinking she could market her product and make some extra cash she shared her product with some friends. Success! Their kids loved the food.
The logo
The logo was created based off an initial meeting with Kelly to discuss her idea. She wanted a mark that spoke to mothers and their babies. Brainstorming with her on a name she finally made the call to use Mama’s Baby Grub. During the conversation she was feeding her child the food and I realized the spoon that her kid was eating with. I thought what about creating a customized font and using the words to form a spoon.
A few drafts were sketched up and even other options not using the spoon idea. Once she saw the words in the shape of a spoon she instantly lit up. Some minor tweaks to the shapes of letters and we went on to choosing colors. The food was a mix of fruits and vegetables that were frozen into various shapes that thawed out when ready to eat. To me this was an easy decision to match the colors of the food itself with the colors of the logo.
